Thatch Fire Safety

The number of thatched fires increase as temperatures fall and people begin to light open fires. As well as the obvious danger to life, it is estimated that the cost of a thatched property fire to the fire and rescue service is between £45,000 and £50,000, and that’s not to mention the financial and emotional cost to the owners.

A team of experts, including representatives for the National Society of Master Thatchers, The East Anglia Master Thatchers Association, John Albion Duffield & Pratt- specialist insurers of thatch and other historic buildings,  The National Association of Chimney Sweeps, and Heatcraft Anglia Ltd  will stage two seminars in the County. These are open to the public and aim to provide essential information about fire prevention and also reliable information about relevant products which are available and would assist in reducing the chances of serious fire loss in a thatched property.  For more information on the seminar to be held in Attleborough click the link below.
